Peter Dunne.

Peter Dunne

What is wrong with some of the Media in this country?

Are they somehow pledged to destroy a political career every week, in order to ensure circulation or viewership?

Having hounded Aaron Gilmore out of office, are they now, having tasted blood (someone else's) desperate for more?

Let's be clear about this.  All politicians leak.  Peters and Mallard are among the worst.

There is a seedy unwritten pact between the Media and Politicians, (which neither would admit to because it would reveal just how grubbily self-serving they both are) whereby the former offers favourable coverage, in exchange for privileged information from the latter.

It's going on as we speak.  Indeed, Peters is acting on information which was obviously leaked to him.

Today, it appears to be the Media who are deciding who should remain in Parliament and who must go, in the process usurping the right of the Public to decide through the Ballot Box, who their representatives shall be.

Dunne has actually stood above the crowd of back-biting pollies and those Press Gallery parasites who live off them, by being among the few to stand up for dignity and decency in the Chamber.

If we lose him, we will all be the poorer.
